This WP will study the technology to detect non-classical effect in far-infrared radiation. In particular, a “twin beam” detection apparatus will be realized to verify quantum correlations among the modes of comb quantum cascade lasers (QCL). As a matter of fact, these sources, due to four-wave-mixing processes in their active regions, are particularly suitable for the detection of quantum correlations among modes.
In the same WP, THz sources and detectors will be studied and characterized, together with the possibility of exploitation of this peculiar spectral region for space applications. In particular two platforms will be developed, one for THz QCLs based communications, and the second one about sensing.
